Tarot Dialogue: Friendship Gone Sour

About 12 years ago I moved from the UK to Japan and let my house out to my friends for a very reasonable rent, in exchange for them taking care of the place and keeping the garden nice, etc. As everyone predicted, the deal has gone south, for a whole array of reasons, and so now I need some guidance.

Not only that, but of course the outside is inside and the inside is outside – see the 9 Axioms of Thoth for further info on that – and so of course dealing with this, or rather not reacting to this in the old, predictable Elise-like ways is really key here. It’s a test, of course it’s a test. *Sigh* If only I had some way to connect with my Higher Self and get the guidance I need. Oh, wait, I’m a Tarot card reader.

Question 1: My first urge is to call on our mutual friends and / or some heavy dudes we know and enlist their help to get the person in question to cough up. I really need the money, dammit! Does the Tarot think that’s a good idea?

Answer: Giving in to urges like that keeps you enslaved to the victim mentality that led you into this situation in the first place. See how it would be the end of your friendship? There is still much to be saved here. The outcome is hidden (I always keep spare cards in the deck to show that the answer is hidden). Unchain yourself from this reactive mindset.

Question 2: All right then, if calling on our friends / the bailiffs to get the person to give me the money that he damn well owes me is not the right move, should I just trust to God, and turn this situation over to HIM, that all of this will end up working itself out? There’s not much else I can do from this distance.

Answer: You’re going at this with a pneumatic drill. The money is here, the money is safe. You’re fine. It’s fine.

So when will I get said money? My air conditioner has just broken down and I had to pay a ton of money for a new cooker and blah-blah-blah…

As you know, because the Tarot is so perfect, we can even make predictions of when that happy event might take place, using the Chaldean Decans. Because the signifier in this spread is the 10 of Disks, we see that the Tarot predicts that it will all be over, red rover, in mid-September. That’s quite far away! but as long as it happens, so much the better.

Question 3: So in the mean time, because I’m the soul of impatience (which is why I always look at the spoilers for Game of Thrones, and also why I use the Tarot for prediction) what can I do to hasten this event?

Answer: Seeing this situation as just one more battle to be won, and allowing yourself to get into petty conflicts with people who are essentially on your side, is what led you to this disaster in the first place. Just accept what’s happening, get out of the way and let events roll on without your meddling.

So that’s pretty unequivocal. Not exactly the answer we were looking for, wouldn’t you agree? But hey. Tarot knows best.

Question 4: What, if any, is the silver lining around this large, black lightning-filled storm cloud?

Answer: The King of Wands has always been the Tarot’s card for my partner. So I should listen to his advice (“Don’t call your friends, silly. Peer pressure would be counter-productive.”) and leave shit to him. Ok, boss.

Are you shocked that the Tarot is happy to talk about such petty topics as money and buying new cookers? Think about it: one quarter of all the cards in the Tarot are Earth cards, which are related to money. The Tarot is an excellent tool for analysing your relationship with money and finance. Try it now, and let us know what the outcome is.

Bhagvad Gita Narrated in English on iMusic

Well would you look at that. Instead of listening to the Bhagvad Gita on YouTube and needing to keep the screen on the whole time, now you can download it on iMusic. Fabulous.

I listen to it in the car, while I’m folding the laundry, cooking or strap-hanging on my train home. For me, the point is that I’m not closely listening, but that I know it because I’ve heard it so many times. I must have listened to this intensely amazing scripture dozens of times.

Here’s a snippet from Chapter 4:

”Chapter 4, Verse 18

One who sees inaction in action, and action in inaction, is intelligent among men, and he is in the tranecendental position, although engaged in all sorts of activities.

Chapter 4, Verse 19

One is understood to be in full knowledge whose every act is devoid of desire for sense gratification. He is said by sages to be a worker whose fruitive action is burned up by the fire of perfect knowledge.

Chapter 4, Verse 20

Abandoning all attachment to the results of his activities, ever satisfied and independant, he performs no fruitive action, although engaged in all kinds of undertakings.

Chapter 4, Verse 21

Such a man of understanding acts with mind and intelligence perfectly controlled, gives up all sense of proprietorship over his possessions and acts only for the bare necessities of life. Thus working, he is not affected by sinful reactions.

Chapter 4, Verse 22

He who is satisfied with gain which comes of its own accord, who is free from duality and does not envy, who is steady both in success and failure, is never entangled, although performing actions.

Chapter 4, Verse 23

The work of a man who is unattached to the modes of material nature and who is fully situated in transcendental knowledge merges entirely into transcendence.

Chapter 4, Verse 24

A person who is fully absorbed in Krsna consciousness is sure to attain the spiritual kingdom because of his full contribution to spiritual activities, in which the consummation is absolute and that which is offered is of the same spiritual nature.”
