Queen Elizabeth I painted by Steven van der Meulen in 1563
“Since our culture tends to over-emphasize the Yang qualities of life – that’s the over-busyness that says go-go go in order to accomplish anything – we often feel tired and burnt-out with little to show for it at the end of the day. To balance that tendency out, learn to activate the energy of the Empress in your daily life. Notice how she feels as she reposes there. Is she running around ragged all stressed out? No. She is in the receptive state – she is fertile by her nature. Her state of mind generates harmony with her surroundings, hence abundance is hers. She is ruled by Venus, the planet of love, creativity, fertility, art, harmony, luxury, beauty and grace. When you can be ‘the Empress’, you will have these qualities in your life.”

Totally fell in love with the lady who works at Maison Ensoleille A Table [sic] even if they couldn’t get it together to native check their restaurant name their desserts look A-Mah-Zing and of course that’s what counts. Join me on Sunday for an afternoon of Tarot talk and cholesterol. See the Kanto Tarot page for details.
I have been so enjoying Kim Wilborn’s Gardian Gateway talks, which she so generously offers for free for 48 hours each. Particularly interesting were Kim’s opening talk and then Ferol Humphrey explaining how she connects to guardian angels. This is so inspiring.
Click the image above to connect, but make it quick as they all are available to listen to for a very short time only.
It’s raining, I have my feet under the KOTATSU, and I’m just starting a new knit. A perfect day to be listening to Tagore on LibriVox.
I’ve shared this on Facebook before but I’ll put it here again now, HERE is the link to the Oprah site article on developing intuition. Very useful, very helpful.
Thank you for the shielding Middle Pillar exercise, Ted. I love it.
I have a scan of the pages in question from Ted’s Andrews’ book “Learn to See and Read the Aura”. The book in itself is well worth the small amount of money it costs, esp. If you buy it second hand, and it’s full of great exercises for, among other things, taking care of your aura. But if you want a copy if the scan let me know. Use the form on the About page.
Why shield? Because it feels good.
Since writing this post and since starting regular daily shielding using the Middle Pillar exercise – well, it’s more of a chant and visualisation, really – not only have I been really enjoying it, as there is a sense of total wellness and peace that is frankly beautiful, but my life has been going very smoothly. Whereas before I was constantly in crisis mode, it was always “The Wrong Time For This!” for the last two weeks everything has been very smooth and peaceful. I feel less ragged constantly. People don’t harass me with just “one more thing, Elise, could you just…?” and the silly crap of life doesn’t seem to cling, or even hit. In brief: Middle Pillar exercise is my practice. Can I get a tee-shirt printed? Or a hat?

The Magician from the Visconti-Sforza deck. Why do you think there is a tiny hole at the top of the card?
Just finished the astro and keywords table for the Major Arcana / Trumps on the new Card Meanings page. Like the table? Share it around!
As you might know, tonight is the dark moon / new moon in Scorpio. This is also All Hallows’ Day, the day of the year when the souls of the departed go to heaven, and it’s the anniversary of my brother David’s death. Moreover, it’s a time of solar eclipse in Scorpio, which is like a super-double-plus dark moon. How apt it is then that I should be laid up in bed with a nasty cold feeling like death. Now is the time to think about all the things you want to let go of. These could be fears, worries, doubts, blocks; you could make a list. Because Scorpio is a water sign, this is the perfect opportunity for some water rituals.
There are many great water element rituals: you can have a bath and ritually clean yourself, or a shower, or you can charge water with the energy you want and drink it. Because we are working with a waning energy, the cleansing rituals work great, but also purging and clearing. Here are the dark moon times you are working with:
Tokyo – Sunday 21.48
L.A. – Sunday 05.48
New York – Sunday 08.48
London – Sunday 12.48
This, incidentally, is during the planetary hour of the Moon. Go near a large body of moving water, such as the sea or a river. Bring your ritual cup, pour in tap water, and hold it in your cupped hands. Feel and visualise the worry, fear, block or doubt you want to expunge and speak those fears into the water. Charge the water with this negative energy, feel the negative energy leave through your hands and into the cup. Yuck. This should be at the time of the solar eclipse or dark moon, whichever you wish to work with. As the moon becomes new, or the eclipse passes, pour the water from the cup into the sea or the river – you could use a toilet bowl I guess but where’s the beauty in that? unless you are Marcel Duchamp – consciously realising the energy. You are now cleansed and purged. Feel yourself freed of negativity, feel the sweet relief and lightness of the new moon’s energy fill you. Vocalise your positive affirmations for the future. Thank the water for helping you to discharge yourself from what was holding you back. The next time you are that way, you could bring it a gift.
PS: all the usual cleansing and warding rituals, for yourself and your tools, before and after, need to be observed, don’t forget!
…is my favourite picking from facebook for today, from Donnaleigh de la Rose. Try the phrase yourself with “metaphysical” or “esoteric”. Anyway, I laughed.
I’m feeling way under the weather today but I’m happy to say that the regular Tarot workshops are starting again from next Wednesday at the fantabulous Asaba Art Cafe. Honestly, I can’t think of a better location or a happier, funkier crowd to be setting to and doing open (public) readings and sweet spontaneous Tarot workshops. Fee is by donation, we suggest ¥500 to ¥3,000. After all if you don’t value it enough to pay you won’t value the guidance enough to follow it, right?
